Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster Hunter Wilds gets first free title update on April 4

If you thought the hunt was over, think again. Capcom is bringing a whole new batch of monsters, quests and surprises to Monster Hunter Wilds in its first Free Title Update, arriving April 4.

The headline act? Mizutsune is back. This graceful-yet-lethal Leviathan is all bubbles and ballet, and it’s making its Wilds debut with a vengeance. Take it down and you’ll earn yourself stylish new armor for both your hunter and your Palico. Hunters at HR 21 or above can start this hunt by chatting with Kanya at Scarlet Forest Base Camp.

With wild weather, smarter combat, and a seamless world to explore, Monster Hunter Wilds feels like the next big leap the series was destined to take.

And if you like your monsters even spicier, an eight-star Tempered Mizutsune will also be slithering into action.

But that’s not all. Arch-tempered Rey Dau enters the arena later this month on April 30, arriving as part of a high-stakes Event Quest for hunters ranked HR 50 and above. Take it down to craft new Rey Dau γ (gamma) gear for yourself and your trusty Felyne.

Zoh Shia is also returning for more than just a one-time story appearance. After the update, players HR 50+ can take on a repeatable Zoh Shia mission, accessible via the Environment Overview or during Wyvern’s Wakening in the Ruins of Wyveria. Yes, that means more loot, more gear, and a whole new round of chaos.

The update also introduces a brand-new social hub. Welcome to the Grand Hub, a lively gathering place where hunters can chat, eat, take on challenges and even try their hand at a new minigame called Barrel Bowling. Roll bombs, hit targets, earn rewards. What more could you want?

Also returning: Arena Quests. These time-based challenges for up to two players use fixed gear to test your skills and pit your best times against global leaderboards. Want more variety? Challenge Quests and Free Challenge Quests offer similar thrills, the former using preset gear for up to two players, the latter letting up to four hunters bring their own loadouts. Pendants and glory await.

Some added flair is coming to Alma, too. You’ll soon be able to change her outfit and even her glasses, with a new free outfit included in the update. Extra cosmetic DLC will also launch on April 4, including classic gestures and a paid Cosmetic DLC Pack 1.

And don’t miss the Festival of Accord: Blossomdance, running from April 23 to May 7. Expect seasonal decor, themed meals, limited-time rewards, and some fancy new equipment.

All of this is just the beginning. Capcom is already teasing a second free title update for the summer, complete with a mystery crossover. Until then, sharpen your blades, load up those barrel bombs, and get ready to hunt.

Happy hunting!
